Meet Wayne Carr
Wayne Carr was born and raised in Gulfport, MS. Carr has lived his entire life in Harrison County on the beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast. He has been married to Vicky Carr for forty three years. Wayne and Vicky have three children, David, Rebecca, and Katherine, and live in the Orange Grove community.
Wayne graduated from Gulfport High School in 1977 and began his career in the construction industry as an electrical apprentice. By the mid 1980’s he had acquired his electrical license and started an electrical company. He then applied for his State of Mississippi Board of Contractors Electrical and Builders Licenses and started a General Contractor and Developing business. For the past forty-five years he has been working in South Mississippi in every aspect of the construction industry.
As a developer, his projects require that he work closely with all the utility companies, engineers, local municipalities, as well as state and federal agencies to install the proper utilities for the present and with the future needs of the community in mind. His projects have included new home construction, home remodels, duplex construction, apartment site development and construction, RV park expansion, mobile home park development, strip center development and construction, industrial building construction, governmental work, worship center site development and construction, and commercial and office space development and construction. Each of these jobs had very detailed utility specifications and guidelines set forth by local, state and often federal guidelines.
Carr's forty-five years of experience in the construction field has prepared him to be your Southern District Public Service Commissioner. The reasons he ran was to give back to the community that he has been blessed to live in, to serve and use his knowledge to best prepare our utilities to meet the demands of expansion and new technology, while ensuring stable, reliable and affordable utility and telecommunication services.
